The guidence upon our church can be summarized in a single sentence based on two key scriptures:

 

 

 

The Great Commandment:  Jesus said, "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it:  'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments."  Matt. 22:37-40

 

The Great Commission:  Jesus said, ". . .go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."  Matt. 28:19-20

 

Therefore, the mission statement of Shroyer Road Baptist Church simply stated is that --

Compassionate community,
Extending the power of
God's Love and Word
To all people.

 

This mission statement concisely embraces the components found in the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.

• To "Love your neighbor as yourself" is — "MINISTRY".  (Extending the power of God's love to all)
• To ". . . go and make disciples" is  ——— "EVANGELISM".  (To all people)
• To "Baptize. . ." is to  ———————— "INCORPORATE INTO FELLOWSHIP".  (Compassionate community)
• To "Teach them. . .all things" is———— "DISCIPLESHIP".  (Extending the power of God's Word)
